H-13 is an air hardening (hot work) tool steel containing 5% chromium. It is one of the most popular of the hot work steels available.
H-13 is widely used in the die cast and aluminum extrusion business as a material of choice, H-13 offers toughness, temper resistance operates in high temperatures, and also offers heat check resistance.
H-13 has a machinability rating of 60% to 70% of a 1% carbon tool steel.
H-13 is sold in the annealed condition. Typical annealed hardness is BHN 192/235 Rc 11/21.
H-13 maximum working hardness is BHN 525 Rc 53.
H-13 is capable of meeting ASTM-A681.

P-20 Pre-Hardened Mold Steel
P-20 is a general purpose mold steel designed for the plastic mold industry. With a combination of Chromium, Manganese, Molybdenum, and Carbon, unwell as being pre-hardened. P-20 is a very popular mold steel grade.
P-20 is used for plastic injection and compression molds, and zinc die casting dies. Molds from this material can be made and placed directly into service.
P-20 has a machinability rating of 65% of a 1% carbon tool steel.
P-20 is sold in the pre-hardened condition. Typical annealed hardness is BHN 2861301 Rc 30/32.
P-20 maximum working hardness is BHN 301 Rc 32 (Further heat treating is not normally required).
P-20 incapable of meeting ASTM-A681.

420 Stainless is primarily used in the molding of plastics. It is also used in the manufacturing of medical; electronic and food processing products that require a combination of both corrosion and wear resistance.
420 Stainless is usually machined in the annealed condition at speeds of about 50% of those used for a free-machining AISI 1212 material.
420 Stainless is sold in the annealed condition. Typical annealed hardness is BHN 192/241 Rc 11.5/22.8.
